Volunteering with LMI

Discover a world of opportunities by volunteering at Llanhilleth Miners Institute. Whether you're looking to gain new skills, meet new people, or simply give back to your community, volunteering is a fun and rewarding experience.

Make a Real Difference

Your time and dedication make a real difference to the lives of others within your local community and help us keep our doors open. We rely on volunteers to support various aspects of our work, from serving as trustees to helping with day-to-day operations.

Volunteering can offer you:

  • A chance to connect with your community

  • New friendships and social connections

  • Skill development and career enhancement

  • Increased confidence and self-esteem

  • Free training and qualifications

Gain Hands-On Experience

Looking to boost your hospitality career? Our volunteer program offers practical experience in a real-world setting. You'll learn valuable skills in:

  • Customer service

  • Event planning and setup

  • Food preparation

  • Serving and bartending

  • Coffee-making

We provide full training and ongoing support to help you succeed. Whether you're just starting out or looking to enhance your skills, we have opportunities to suit your interests.

All our volunteers receive a full induction, so that we can tailor our opportunities to an individual's interests as much as possible.  Once engaged on our Volunteering programme, ongoing support, guidance and mentoring is provided by our Volunteer Coordinator.

So if you are interested in getting involved in volunteering with us and being part of 'Team 'Stute', give us a ring or email us to find out more.

We also offer informal learning opportunities such as workshops for creative arts and crafts to essential skills  accreditations like food safety and first aid.  Our programmes are designed to enrich your life and enhance your community.

Not only can these courses develop you personally through increased confidence, self-esteem and personal fulfilment, but they are transferable skills that you can pass on to your children.

We collaborate with local partners to provide accredited qualifications and informal learning opportunities that cater to the wide ranging needs of our community.

What it means to our community

It was so rewarding to know that I was helping to make a difference – although it was hard work, I got on really well with the rest of the team and had a warm welcome!
