After months of planning, planting, weeding, watering, and working through some of the hottest weather of the year, we're delighted to share that our Walled Garden and Community Garden were completed in time for judging in the Wales in Bloom competition.

Last week, we had the huge pleasure of welcoming the Wales in Bloom judge, along with guests from across our community, to see everything that has been achieved. It was a wonderful occasion and a chance to celebrate not only the gardens themselves, but also the people who have made them possible.

A particular highlight of the day was a beautiful performance from the children of St Illtyd's School, who sang so wonderfully and helped create a truly memorable atmosphere. Following the visit, everyone enjoyed a welcoming lunch together before it was time to say our goodbyes.

Reaching this milestone has been a real team effort. From preparing the ground and carefully selecting plants to maintaining the gardens through long, warm days, every stage has been driven by the dedication of our volunteers, staff, and supporters. Their passion and commitment have transformed these spaces into something we can all be proud of.

While we now eagerly await the outcome of the Wales in Bloom competition, we already feel we've achieved something very special. The gardens represent far more than an entry into a competition—they are a lasting gift to our community.

Our vision has always been to create gardens that are open, welcoming, and accessible to everyone. Places where neighbours can stop for a chat, families can spend time together, visitors can enjoy the changing seasons, and anyone can take a quiet moment to relax and support their wellbeing. In an increasingly busy world, having peaceful green spaces at the heart of our community is more important than ever.

These gardens belong to the community, and we hope they will continue to grow and flourish as places where friendships are made, memories are created, and people can simply enjoy the beauty of nature.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed to this journey. Whether you've volunteered your time, donated plants or materials, offered encouragement, or simply stopped by to admire the progress, you've helped make this achievement possible.

Whatever the outcome of the competition, we are immensely proud of what has been accomplished together. Seeing our community come together to celebrate these gardens reminded us exactly why this project was so worthwhile.

We now look forward to hearing the results of the judging in due course. Until then, if you haven't yet visited our Walled Garden and Community Garden, we warmly invite you to come along, take a stroll, find a quiet bench, and enjoy these beautiful spaces that have been created for everyone to share.
